Team Mahiki Battles Through Adversity at Donington, Eyes Now on Silverstone

A Troublesome Start to the Weekend

It was a weekend of grit, determination, and resilience for Team Mahiki and Ian Duggan, as the team faced a series of mechanical challenges at Donington Park.

The troubles began early on the official test day, where persistent technical faults severely limited running time. Despite the setbacks, the team worked tirelessly in the paddock, determined to uncover the root of the issues. Unfortunately, valuable track time was lost as they chased gremlins through the system.

Pre-Qualifying Frustrations

Saturday’s pre-qualifying brought renewed hope, with the team testing the car again in a bid to resolve the issues. But despite their best efforts, the problems persisted. When the car was sent out for the first qualifying run, the faults reappeared, forcing an early retirement and relegating the car to the back of the grid for Sunday’s race.

Race Day Optimism

Come race day, a hardship lap was granted to evaluate the car’s condition. To the team’s relief, everything seemed to be in working order—finally, a glimmer of hope. Ian Duggan took the start with determination and showed his class immediately. By lap six, he had carved his way through the field, gaining five places and battling for 4th in the Pro/Am class.

Collision and Early Exit

But as fate would have it, disaster struck. A GT3 competitor collided with Ian, effectively using him as a braking zone and sending it into the gravel. The damage was extensive, and there would be no return to the track.

Eyes on Silverstone

It was a frustrating end to a promising charge, but the team remains positive. With Silverstone on the horizon—where Team Mahiki celebrated a Pro/Am win last year—spirits are high and the focus is now firmly on redemption.
